5 Basic Steps for Photographers + Photo Sessions After the COVID - 19 Pandemic
You absolutely are a big deal. I do understand that Georgia is about to open up on April 30 after the COVID-19 pandemic, however, I feel that as a Photographer, it is our duty to take the basic steps to keep our clients + ourselves safe. You may be like myself and not ready to return, out into the world, and that's OK. For those of you who are ready to get back out there and have a sense of normalcy in your life, please follow these five basic steps, as you return to work, after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Step 1: Wear a mask. You may be asymptomatic and not have any symptoms but very well pass that onto your client. The best practice to implement is always wearing your mask.
Step 2: Minimize back of the camera sneak peaks. This is actually one of my favorite things to do, however during this time, there will be little to no sneak peaks during the session. Guess what, it just creates that much more anticipation for when it's time to do in person sales. This is actually one of my favorite things to do, however during this time, there will be little to no sneak peaks during the session. Step 3: Air high-fives only! Wow, this is going to be hard. I absolutely love contact with my clients. We're family! Understanding how the virus is spread, we've got to be quick on our feet. Make air high-fives a trend for this year.
Step 4: Limit the amount of people at your session. I know we will all be playing catch-up with our senior moments + birthday themed portraits, but it is imperative that we minimize Number of people joining your client. If seniors bring their parents and or their grandparents that is OK just have them wait in the car until you're done. I know it gets fun and you incorporate the parents with holding the reflector for you or changing the music, but let's keep the number of people joining your client. Step 5: Only accept online payments or payment by phone. This way, there is less contact between you and your client. You may use your CRM, PayPal, Apple Pay, business Cash App, + many others to take your final payments for each session.
Most of all, stay safe. I'm just as ready to photograph my clients, but I respect their safety. You do not have to implement these practices, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
